FOR PLAYERS

  1. The Player must ensure that they have the appropriate equipment for each occasion:

    (a) Clean football boots for grass.
    (b) Training shoes for hard surfaces.
    (c) Shin pads and socks.
    (d) A filled water bottle.

  2. The Player should give maximum effort and strive for his best performance during a game or training session.

  3. The Player must not use inappropriate language, gamesmanship or time wasting tactics. He must set a positive example for others, particularly younger players & supporters.

  4. The Player must accept success and failure, victory and defeat equally. He must treat opponents with due respect at all times, irrespective of the result of the game.

  5. The Player must safeguard the physical fitness of opponents, avoid violence and rough play, and help injured opponents where possible.

  6. The Player must accept the decision of the Match Officials without protest and show due respect towards all Match Officials and Team Officials of the opposition.

  7. The Player must abide by the instructions of his Coach & Team Officials, provided they do not contradict the spirit of this code.

  8. The Player must observe common courtesy by arriving for training and matches on time or notifying the Coach, in advance, of any reason for not doing so.

  9. The Player must show respect for the facilities and equipment that they use.

  10. The Player must never wear jewellery during training or matches.

  11. The Player will conduct themselves in a well behaved and polite manner at all social functions.

FOR COACHES

  1. The Coach must respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person and treat everyone equally within the context of the sport.

  2. The Coach must place the well being and safety of each player above all other considerations, including the development of performance.

  3. The Coach must develop an appropriate working relationship with each player based on mutual trust and respect.

  4. The Coach must not exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or reward.

  5. The Coach must encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance.

  6. The Coach must ensure that the activities they direct or advocate are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of players.

  7. The Coach should, at the outset clarify with the player (and where appropriate their parents) exactly what is expected of them, and also what they are entitled to expect from their Coach.

  8. The Coach must cooperate fully with other specialists in the best interests of the player.

  9. The Coach must always promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play) and never condone violations of the laws of the game, or the use of prohibited substances & techniques.

  10. The Coach must consistently display high standards of behaviour and appearance.

  11. The Coach must ensure that his overall priority is to make learning fun and that players are progressed to their maximum potential in both individual and team skills.

  12. The Coach must not use or tolerate the use of inappropriate language.

  13. The Coach will be not be left alone with players.

FOR PARENTS

  1. The Parent must ensure that the Player has the required equipment and refreshments for each occasion.

  2. The Parent must ensure that the Player arrives and is collected by the appointed times for training sessions & matches.

  3. The Parent must inform the Coach, as far in advance as possible, if the Player will not be available for a training session or match.

  4. The Parent must inform the Coach of any illness or ailment that may affect the performance or health of the Player.

  5. The Parent should inform the Coach of any games that the Player has been asked to participate in, other than for Luton Borough.

  6. The Parent must always encourage ALL players during the match regardless of the score in the game.

  7. The Parent should not give instructions to the players during the match or at the half-time interval. This is the responsibility of the Coach.

  8. The Parent must respect the rights of the Coach to make decisions regarding training methods, team selections, substitutions and match tactics unless they contradict the spirit of this code.

  9. The Parent must be courteous and polite at all times towards opponents, coaches, managers, referees and officials.

  10. The Parent must never use foul, abusive or racist language towards any player, official or supporter, either on or off the pitch.

  11. The Parent must never use any violence or aggression towards any player, official or supporter, either on or off the pitch

  12. The Parent should feel free to approach the Coach to discuss any aspect of the Players football development.

  13. The Parent must always pay the training, match and membership fees on time.

  14. The Parent should support the club’s social and fund raising activities.

  15. The Parent will be responsible for their own children and their behaviour at all social functions.

FOR TEAM OFFICIALS

Obligations towards the Game

The team official should:

  1. Set a positive example for others, particularly young players and supporters.

  2. Promote and develop his own team having regard to the interest of the Players, Supporters and reputation of the national game.

  3. Share knowledge and experience when invited to do so, taking into account the interest of the body that has requested this rather than personal interests.

  4. Avoid all forms of gamesmanship.

  5. Show due respect to Match Officials and others involved in the game.

  6. Always have regard for the best interests of the game, including where publicly expressing an opinion of the game and any particular aspect of it, including others involved in the game.

  7. Not use or tolerate inappropriate language.

Obligations towards the Club/Team

The team official should:

  1. Make every effort to develop the sporting, technical and tactical levels of the club/team, and to obtain the best results for the team, using all permitted means.

  2. Give priority to the interests of the team over individual interests.

  3. Resist all illegal or unsporting influences, including banned substances and techniques.

  4. Promote ethical principles.

  5. Show due respect for the interests of the players, coaches and officials, their own club/team and others.

  6. Keep financial records for the team that would stand up to scrutiny from the treasurer or club committee member.

  7. Ensure that all funds and kit and equipment held on behalf of the club/team are given back to the club/team on leaving the club or relinquishing his/her position.

Obligations towards the Supporters

The team official should:

  1. Show due respect for the interests of supporters

Respect towards the Match Officials

A team official should:

  1. Accept the decisions of the Match Official without protest.

  2. Avoid words or actions, which may mislead a Match Official.

  3. Show due respect towards Match Officials.
